QUICKSILVER GROUP AWARDED QUEENSLAND TOURISM HONOURS
For the second consecutive year, Tropical North Queensland’s Quicksilver Group has been acknowledged at the prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards as the State’s “Major Tour and Transport Operator”.
Accepting the award announced in Townsville on Saturday night (10 November), Quicksilver Group Managing Director Tony Baker said, “We’re extremely proud to receive this award for the second year running and acknowledge the hard work of our team in delivering fantastic service and a quality experience across a range of Great Barrier Reef touring options.”
The Quicksilver Group employs over 500 people in Cairns and Port Douglas.
“The Quicksilver Group is an active participant with TTNQ and TQ in promoting our region undertaking 19 international sales trips and visiting 21 countries in the past year.”
Consisting of Quicksilver’s Outer Reef and Low Isles cruises, Great Adventures Reef and Green Island cruises, Pro Dive Cairns, specialty snorkel and dive brand Silver Series and Green Island Resort, the Quicksilver Group carried passengers from around the globe to experience the iconic Great Barrier Reef during 2006/07.
With Port Douglas and Cairns based operations, the group operates a fleet of 11 major vessels, four outer reef platforms and a fleet of coaches and the world renowned Green Island Resort. The Group also employs research catering and vessel and fleet maintenance divisions.
Quicksilver Group will now represent Queensland in the Australian Tourism Awards to be held in February 2008. |
