FIRST GREAT BARRIER REEF TRAVEL SHOP OPENS IN CHINA!

The Quicksilver Group, in conjunction with leading Chinese travel group GZL International Travel Service, has opened the first Great Barrier Reef travel agent sales shop in the southern China province of Guangzhou.

With the aim to promote Australia’s world-renowned Great Barrier Reef, The Great Barrier Reef shop, was officially opened on January 12, 2007 with much fanfare and lion dances representing good luck, in the presence of Guangzhou Tourism Bureau officials, Quicksilver Group representatives – Mr Michael Healy and Mr Anthony Teng and Tourism Queensland representatives, Wendy Levy and Jodie Lai.

The whole retail shop is decorated with the theme “Great Barrier Reef” with a focus on Great Adventures Green Island and Outer Reef cruises.  Customers will have an experience of the Great Barrier Reef and various other Cairns tourism products by viewing images, window displays and TV programs.

“Great Adventures has already entertained over 30,000 Chinese tourists in 2005-6,” said Michael Healy, Quicksilver Group’s Director of Sales & Marketing.

“It is recognized that Guangdong is a major market for the Great Barrier Reef. The maturity of this market brings the company together with airlines and tour agencies to introduce more high quality products to fulfil the needs of Chinese tourists.”

With the Chinese New Year approaching, GZL have already received many bookings with the most popular destination in Australia being the Great Barrier Reef.

With the opening of the Great Barrier Reef sales shop, GZL will concentrate on promoting more sophisticated Great Barrier Reef programs by introducing the theme of “100% Great Barrier Reef” to the China market.  This will involve package products to our destination.
