TONY BAKER APPOINTED VISITOR SAFETY AMBASSADOR

Safety First

Quicksilver Group Managing Director, Tony Baker, has been appointed as an ambassador for Visitor Safety in an initiative led by Surf Life Saving Queensland, Tourism Queensland and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.

The Visitor Safety Ambassador Program is aimed at using high profile, best practice tourism operators as advocates for visitor safety messages and safe operator behaviours.

“With best practice water safety initiatives, the Quicksilver Group is a strong advocate for visitor safety and I am delighted to be personally involved in this program,” said Mr Baker.

“Water activities are obviously a big part of our operations and visitor safety is paramount. While these activities are ‘recreational fun’, we take very seriously the responsibility of ensuring our guests enjoy their experience in safety.

“This ranges from being sun smart to providing snorkelling advice and supervision, diver education and awareness of marine stingers. For many of our guests, English is not their first language so we communicate these messages in a number of ways - through live demonstrations, videos and onboard literature in numerous languages."

Queensland’s four other Visitor Safety ambassadors are Max Shepherd from Skyrail, Suzette Pelt from Whitsunday Yacht Charters, Dreamworld CEO Stephen Gregg and Tadashi Echikawa of Japan Tourism Gold Coast and JTB Australia.”

Queensland Tourism and Regional Development Minister Desley Boyle said,“This is a tremendous initiative and I congratulate our ambassadors, Tourism Queensland, Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council in coming together for such an important issue.”
