Pro Dive Cairns made history in the diving industry recently when they certified their 100,000th PADI diver. This is indeed a remarkable achievement and will certainly be noted as a day to remember for both Pro Dive Cairns and Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) – and an unsuspecting novice German diver!

Maike Federhenn was surprised and thrilled with the honour and gifts awarded to her. On arrival back to Pro Dive Cairns training centre after completing her Open Water Diver course on the Great Barrier Reef, it was clear Maike had achieved the unique status of being their 100,000th PADI certified diver.

What does this mean to Pro Dive Cairns? To say the least, an extremely proud day for Managing Director Rod Punshon and his staff following 25 years of dedication and commitment to quality scuba diver training in Tropical North Queensland.

Commenting on the company’s milestones, Rod said, “We are extremely proud of our achievements and the reputation we’ve built over the years. The fact that so many people have chosen Pro Dive Cairns to teach them to dive is very satisfying and reflects our philosophy of providing the best possible dive education and trips over many years”.

“Our longevity in business over the past 25 years is an outstanding testament to the dedication and professionalism of all our staff, as well as the quality and reputation of our product.”

This historic occasion was commemorated on Saturday 1st November with a function at Rydges Plaza in Cairns, attended by 60 people. Senior delegates from PADI Asia Pacific travelled to Cairns to mark the major milestone and were joined by staff from Pro Dive Cairns, Maike Federhenn and a gathering of local tourism industry leaders.
