| Tony Baker with Award |
As you will see in this Quickies issue, we have been bestowed with many awards recently - from environmental accolades to an amazing world first for Pro Dive Cairns.
We would like to share with you our enormous pride of being inducted into the Queensland Tourism Hall of Fame and our success at the recent Queensland Tourism Awards.
We were honoured with two prestigious awards and having won the “Major Tour and Transport Operator” award for three consecutive years, the Quicksilver Group was admitted into the Queensland Tourism “Hall of Fame”.
Quicksilver Group Managing Director Tony Baker said, “We’re extremely proud to be acknowledged with these awards which recognise continued commitment to quality customer service, innovation and environmentally sustainable practices.
“This success belongs with our fantastic staff at the front line and behind the scenes who make sure we really do provide the best reef experiences every day for our visitors. To win the award three years in a row certainly reinforces that we do have fantastic people across all areas of our operation.”
The Quicksilver Group was also awarded the “Richard Power Award for Tourism Marketing” in recognition of efforts in promoting Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef region through innovative branded retail shops in mainland China. Tony praised the efforts of the Group Director Sales and Marketing, Michael Healy who with our Asian Sales Manager Anthony Teng instigated, implemented and launched 10 branded “Cairns and Great Barrier Reef” themed shops with leading Chinese travel agents and several Cairns tourism operators to provide quality packages for Chinese visitors to the region.
“This could not have been done without the support of our partners, TQ, TTNQ, Hot Air, Blazing Saddles, Kuranda Scenic Rail, Skyrail, Scuba Doo, Seawalker Green Island, GBR Helicopter Group, CAPTA and Downunder Tours who have all joined with the Quicksilver Group to ensure the success of the retail branded shop campaign.”
As a result of these award wins, Quicksilver Group will now represent Queensland in the Australian Tourism Awards to be announced in February 2009.
