Qualified Diesel Fitter

Great Adventures has a fantastic opportunity for a suitably qualified diesel fitter to join the engineering team based in our workshop in Cairns.   Reporting to the Workshop Manager you will assist in maintaining our company vessels and equipment in good mechanical order. 

Some of the duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the efficient operation of Great Adventures by carrying out the day to day servicing of the Vessel engines and mechanical equipment, and by undertaking repairs and maintenance as required, ensuring minimal down time.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Great Adventures operation by assisting and undertaking equipment modification and design improvement
  • Maintain a reliable and safe fleet of vessels by operating a system of preventative maintenance of the highest standard
  • Maintain records of a high standard by keeping log books up to date on all aspects of servicing, repair, and replacement
  • Maintain equipment in the highest order by ensuring correct operating procedures are used at all times, defects and damages are reported, and equipment and workplace are kept safe and clean.

 

To be considered for the role you will need have -

  • Trade Qualified – Diesel fitting/heavy equipment
  • A genuine passion for the mechanical fitting industry
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role
  • Ability to be able to communicate at all levels
  • A willingness to work as a team member
  • Flexibility and be able to work outside core hours as required
  • Current driving licence
  • Current First Aid or ability to obtain
  • Current Confined Space or ability to obtain

 

Experience in the Marine equipment industry would also be looked upon favourably.
