Dishing it up for our Cabbie Ambassadors

A large contingent of local cab drivers, our city’s roving ambassadors, were treated to a delicious early morning breakfast on the Cairns Esplanade, complete with a beautiful sunrise over the inlet as a backdrop.

The Quicksilver Group has been hosting the Cabbies Breakfast event for several years as a way of thanking the local Black and White cabbies for the great work they do as ambassadors for our region.

With 137 taxis covering the Cairns region, cabbies in many respects are the face of the community. They are often the first people our visitors meet when they arrive on holidays and the last as they leave, making our cab drivers a key link in making sure our visitors receive a warm tropical welcome.

In addition to the cooked breakfast, the cabbies also received vouchers for a reef trip so they can first hand experience the destination and feel comfortable and knowledgeable when talking to their passengers.

Chris Simmons, Fleet Services Manager Black and White Taxis said, “The drivers really appreciated the breakfast and the generosity of the Quicksilver Group. The reef trip makes them feel appreciated and an integral part of the tourism industry.”
