The China Dozen � 12th Cairns and Great Barrier Reef Travel Shop opens

 

Twelve was an auspicious number for the opening of the 12th Cairns and Great Barrier Reef specialist retail travel shop on the 12th of November in Shenyang, capital of the prosperous Liaoning Province of North East China.

Great Barrier Reef Shop ChinaIn Shenyang for the opening ceremony, Tony Baker, Managing Director of the Quicksilver Group said, “It’s a fantastic achievement that a group of Cairns operators have now collaboratively branded a dozen retails shops in China bringing together a range of quality Great Barrier Reef and land based touring and accommodation products.”

Tony Baker, China Southern Airline GM Mr. Cao Shi and DebraNine local tourism operators also joined Tony Baker and Quicksilver Group Asia Sales Manager, Laurel Zhang, in celebrating the occasion with the Shenyang Overseas International Travel Service. Representatives from TTNQ, Tourism Queensland and Tourism Australia also joined the celebrations.

Fortuitously named Golden Luck Tour, the new Shenyang travel shop is located inside a large shopping mall with exposure to over 30,000 people per day. And with temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees in December the lure of sunshine, reef and rainforest hues of Tropical North Queensland is set to entice!

Cairns tourism operators partnering with Quicksilver and Great Adventures reef cruises are Hot Air Ballooning, Skyrail, Kuranda Scenic Rail, Wildlife Tropical North Queensland, Rydges Hotel Group, Parker Travel Collection, Down Under Tours, Seawalker and Scooba Doo.

The first Cairns and Great Barrier reef themed shop was opened in 2005 when Quicksilver led a group of tour operators to launch the first shop in Guangzhou. Following the success of this launch, an expanded group joined forces and with assistance from Tourism Australia, TTNQ and TQ began a program to introduce further branded shops in the major cities of Shenzhen, Shanghai, Wenzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing, and Hangzhou.  In 2009 a branded shop was also opened in Beijing.

Speaking after the official opening, Tourism Australia’s Regional Industry Development Manager Greater China, Edward Chen said, “Your collective effort and passion to promote the destination is marvellous and feedback from the market is positive and also impressive. I look forward to all the best of success stories in Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou soon!”
