Quicksilver was delighted to be involved in the inaugural Challenge Cairns Event with the Quicksilver Reef Swim at Green Island on 2 June providing a unique ocean swim in the Great Barrier Reef.

Conditions were stunning with a water temperature of 24 degrees, blue skies and warm sunshine overhead as 147 swimmers took on 1.5km and 3km events – the ideal warm up for the major Challenge Cairns triathlon event.

Competitors were from all over Australia and around the globe, including Germany, New Zealand and Singapore. Australian Ironman champion Pete Jacobs took line honours in the 3km swim said, "It was beautiful, perfect water temperature with crystal clear water and plenty of marine life. It was perfect for a hard swim."

The Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns on 5 June featured a 3.8km swim in the warm waters off Yorkeys Knob, a 180km bike leg taking in the stunning scenic coastal road to Port Douglas and a 42.2km run that includes the Cairns boardwalk before finishing in the heart of the city of Cairns.
