Cairns Adventure Festival: Quicksilver Reef Swim - Green Island

For the second year, our Quicksilver Reef Swim at Green Island has provided a unique event for the Cairns Adventure Festival, this year incorporating Ironman Cairns. Conditions were set to challenge as over 140 swimmers took on the 1.5km and 3km swims – the ideal warm up for the major Ironman Cairns event.

Congratulations to all competitors in our Quicksilver Reef Swim including Matthew Pegg from Townsville who backed up his 3km Men’s title win from last year’s Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim, and 13 year old Phoebe Hines from the Sunshine Coast on winning the Female 3km event.

The Ironman Cairns on 3 June featured a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike leg taking in the stunning scenic coastal road to Port Douglas and a 42.2km run finishing in the heart of the city of Cairns.

We’d also like to congratulate two of our Quicksilver crew who participated in the Half Ironman event, Daniel Hough and Vera Jarvela.. Well done!
