Important Information: COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

The Quicksilver Group is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all our customers and staff when travelling with us and attending our facilities. As a COVID Safe company, it will be a requirement that all customers and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 

In accordance with the Queensland Government public health directive, as of 17 December 2021 it will be a requirement for all customers 16 years and older to be vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccine in order to travel with us, unless they have been granted an appropriate medical exemption. It will be a requirement that proof of vaccination must be shown before joining any of our Great Barrier Reef experiences. 

Proof of vaccination can be shown by:
  • Linking your COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate to your Check In Qld app. 
  • If unable to use the Check in Qld app, you can alternatively show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination certificate via the Medicare app, or a printed copy of your COVID-19 vaccination certificate, or immunisation history statement.

Importantly, customers that check-in and are unable to provide proof of vaccination will be declined travel and cancellation charges may apply relevant to product cancellation fees.

Safety Measures


Pro Dive Cairns is committed to ensuring your health and safety at all times. Across our operations, each facility and vessel has COVID Safe guidelines to minimise any potential risks so you can enjoy your Great Barrier Reef experience in confidence.

For your assurance, an overview of measures and additional precautions in place include the following.

General measures implemented as mandatory include:

  • All persons must sanitise hands once at our Dive Centre and on vessel boarding (hand sanitiser will be provided).
  • All customers will be asked to complete a health questionnaire prior to attending the Training Centre or vessel check-in 
  • Additionally, all customers will be asked to provide a verbal health declaration on check-in and prior to boarding one of our vessels. 
  • Unwell persons are not permitted to travel (see Customer Pre-screening)
  • Vessel and tour passenger numbers limited to 1 person per 2 square metres. 
  • Liveaboard Trips: Customers will be provided their own cabin accommodation unless travelling with a partner.
  • Cashless transactions only.
  • Hand sanitising and hand wash stations throughout vessels and diver training centre
  • Social distancing advice announcements onboard.
  • Staff training and awareness of COVID safe practices.

Customer Pre-screening
  • All customers will be asked to complete a health questionnaire prior to attending the Training Centre or vessel check-in. For the safety of all customers and staff, if you are displaying cold and flu-like symptoms potentially consistent with COVID-19, you MUST NOT attend the scheduled tour. COVID-19 symptoms include cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue and shortness of breath. Please refer to our refund policy or contact our reservations team.
  • Pro Dive Cairns has the right to refuse participation in tours and activities should customers refuse to comply with the conditions of COVID safe practices.
The Australian Government advises that the following people are most ‘at risk’:
  • aged over 70
  • aged over 65 with a material medical condition
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander aged over 50 with a material medical condition 
  • people with material medical conditions 
  • people who are immuno-compromised.
Staff Screening
  • All staff are aware that they MUST NOT attend work if they have any symptoms potentially consistent with COVID-19.
  • Staff screening will be undertaken prior to commencement of each trip and the commencement of each day of work for land based activities.

Social Distancing
  • Onboard our vessels, capacity has been limited to facilitate recommended 1 person per 2 square metre guidelines.
  • Partners/family units (ie with the same residential address) will be managed as equivalent to one individual. As with individuals, each family unit will be required to maintain appropriate social distancing from individuals who are not part of their direct family unit.
  • At our Training Centre, classroom student numbers are limited to comply with 2 square metres per person.

Food Service
  • Modifications have been made to our meal service to comply with food service requirements. Self-service buffets are available complying with food safety regulations.

Cleaning & Hygiene - Additional COVID-19 measures:
  • Customers and staff will be provided access to hand sanitisers and hand washing stations.
  • Additional cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces and washroom facilities will be completed throughout your visit with us.
  • Dive and snorkel equipment: As per normal practice, all customers will be provided their own equipment for the duration of the trip. All equipment provided will be sanitised with approved disinfectant after each use.
  • Additional hygiene and social distancing signage has been installed.

These general guidelines are in compliance with Queensland Health and Australian Government Department of Health current recommendations, and the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) COVID Safe guidelines. Advice will be amended in accordance with the most up to date recommendations.
